Now in its third year, the Nissan Kickoff Project offers Canadian high school teams the opportunity to experience the educational, developmental, and social benefits that organized football provides. This year, the program will help nearly 1,200 students in 26 schools nationally in 24 cities and eight provinces coast-to-coast from British Columbia to Nova Scotia. The Nissan Kickoff Project assists high schools that have the passion for the game but are in need of resources to participate in football. Follow the stories on #NissanKickoffProject and we hope you will fully take advantage of these grassroot events if they stop in your local areas.
Created in 1993, the Foundation aims to deliver on Nissan’s corporate vision of enriching people’s lives, by improving the quality of life in the communities in which Nissan operates. Aligned with Nissan’s three chosen areas of focus; the environment, education and humanitarian relief, the Foundation establishes lasting partnerships ensuring its efforts lead to long-term tangible differences in people’s lives. This approach has resulted in long-standing support for The Mississauga Food Bank, a local organization, as well as a national partnership with Habitat for Humanity Canada, formed in 2008. Equally passionate about Canada’s future, the Foundation supports endowments, bursaries and in-kind donations. Today these have an estimated value of over two million dollars. The Foundation has provided financial assistance to these partners over the course of two decades, but it has also provided close to 6,000 hours of donated labour, realizing that the true value of these efforts is in the outcomes they have enabled. An understanding best achieved through personal involvement.
